எல்லையற்ற சினம் கொள்வார் இறந்தவர்க்கு ஒப்பாவார் சினத்தை அறவே துறந்தவர் துறவிக்கு ஒப்பாவார்
மு. வரதராசன் உரை
சினத்தில் அளவு கடந்து சென்றவர் இறந்தவரைப் போன்றவர், சினத்தை அடியோடு துறந்தவர் துறந்தவர்க்கு ஒப்பாவர்.
சாலமன் பாப்பையா உரை
பெருங்கோபம் கொண்டவர் இருந்தாலும் இறந்தவரைப் போன்றவரே; கோபத்தை விட்டுவிட்டவர். இறக்க வேண்டியவரே என்றாலும் சாவைத் தவிர்த்தவர் போன்றவரே.

பரிமேலழகர் உரை: இறந்தார் இறந்தார் அனையர் - சினத்தின் கண்ணே மிக்கார் உயிருடையராயினும் செத்தாரோடு ஒப்பர், சினத்தைத் துறந்தார் துறந்தார் துணை - சினத்தைத் துறந்தார் சாதல் தன்மையராயினும், அதனை ஒழிந்தார் அளவினர். (மிக்க சினத்தை உடையார்க்கு ஞானம் எய்துதற்கு உரிய உயிர் நின்றதாயினும் , கலக்கத்தான் அஃது எய்தாமை ஒருதலையாகலின் அவரை வீடு பெற்றாரோடு ஒப்பர் என்றும் கூறினார். இதனான் அவ்விருவர் பயனும் ஒருங்கு கூறப்பட்டது.).

மணக்குடவர் உரை: சினத்தை மிகுந்தார் செத்தாரோடு ஒப்பர், அதனை யொழிந்தார் எல்லாப் பொருளையுந் துறந்தாரோடு ஒப்பர், இது வெகுளாதார் பெரியரென்றது.
வி முனுசாமி உரை
திருக்குறளார் வீ. முனிசாமி உரை: சினத்தில் மிகுந்து இருப்பவர்கள் உயிரோடிருப்பவர்களேயானாலும் செத்தவருக்கு ஒப்பாவார். அந்தச் சினத்தினை விட்டவர்கள் உடம்பால் சாதல் தன்மையரேயானாலும் இறவாதவர்களுக்குச் சமமாவார்கள்.

Dead are they who are anger-fed Saints are they from whom wrath has fled

Those, who give way to excessive anger, are no better than dead men; but those, who are freed from it, are equal to those who are freed (from death)
