நச்சு மரம்பழுத் தற்று.

வெறுக்கப்படுகிறவரிடம் குவிந்துள்ள செல்வமும், ஊர் நடுவே நச்சு மரத்தில் காய்த்துக் குலுங்குகின்ற பழமும் வெவ்வேறானவையல்ல!
மு. வரதராசன் உரை
பிறர்க்கு உதவாத காரணத்தால் ஒருவராலும் விரும்பப்படாதவனுடைய செல்வம், ஊர் நடுவில் நச்சு மரம் பழுத்தாற் போன்றது.
சாலமன் பாப்பையா உரை
எவராலும் விரும்பப்படாதவனின் செல்வம் ஊரின் நடுவே நின்ற நச்சு மரம் பழுத்தது போலாம்.
பாரி மேலகர் உரை
பரிமேலழகர் உரை: நச்சப்படாதவன் செல்வம் - வறியார்க்கு அணியனாயிருந்தும் ஒன்றுங்கொடாமையின் அவரான் நச்சப்படாதவன் செல்வமெய்துதல்; ஊர் நடுவுள் நச்சுமரம் பழுத்தற்று - ஊரிடை நிற்பதோர் நச்சு மரம் பழுத்தாற் போலும். ('நடுவூர்' என்பது பின் முன்னாகத் தொக்க ஆறாம் வேற்றுமைத் தொகை. அண்மை உடைமைகளான் பயனில்லை என்பதாம்.).

மணக்குடவர் உரை: பிறரால் ஆசைப்படாதவனது செல்வம், ஊர் நடுவுள் பழுத்து நிற்பதொரு நச்சுமரம் பழுத்த தன்மைத்து. இது நச்சுமரப்பழம் தமதாசையாலே தின்பாருண்டாயின் அவரைக் கொல்லுமென்றது.

The idle wealth of unsought men Is poison-fruit-tree amidst a town

The wealth of him who is disliked (by all) is like the fruit-bearing of the etty tree in the midst of a town
