இறுகத் தழுவியிருந்த போது, இடையே குளிர்ந்த காற்று நுழைந்ததால் அதையே ஒரு பிரிவு எனக் கருதிக் காதலியின் அகன்று நீண்ட கண்கள் பசலை நிறம் கொண்டன
மு. வரதராசன் உரை
தழுவுதலுக்கு இடையே குளி்ந்த காற்று நுழைய, காதலியின் பெரிய மழை போன்ற கண்கள் பசலை நிறம் அடைந்தன.
சாலமன் பாப்பையா உரை
(அப்படி) நான் கையை மெல்ல எடுத்ததால் எங்கள் தழுவலுக்கு இடையே குளிர்ந்த சிறுகாற்று நுழைந்தது. இந்த இடைவெளியைக்கூடப் பொறுக்காமல் அவளுடைய பெரிய குளிர்ந்த கண்கள் நிறம் இழந்தன. இப்போது அவை எப்படி இருக்கின்றனவோ?

பரிமேலழகர் உரை: (இதுவும் அது.) முயக்கிடைத் தண் வளி போழ - அங்ஙனம் கைகளை ஊக்குதலான் அம் முயக்கிடையே சிறுகாற்று நுழைந்ததாக; பேதை பெருமழைக்கண் பசப்புற்ற - அத்துணையிடையீடும் பொறாது, பேதையுடைய பெரிய மழைக் கண்கள் பசப்புற்றன; அத்தன்மையவான கண்கள், மலைகளும் காடும் நாடுமாய இவ்விடையீடுகளையெல்லாம் யாங்ஙனம் பொறுத்தன? (தண்மை - ஈண்டு மென்மைமேல் நின்றது. 'போழ' என்றது, உடம்பு இரண்டும் ஒன்றானது தோன்ற நின்றது. மழை - குளிர்ச்சி).

மணக்குடவர் உரை: யான் பிரிவதாக நினைத்து முயக்கத்தின்கண்ணே எனது உடம்பை அகற்ற, அம்முயக்கிடையே சிறு காற்று ஊடறுத்தலானே எனது நீக்கத்தைப் பொறாது பேதையுடைய பெருத்த குளிர்ந்த கண்கள் பசப்புற்றன. இது முதலாக மூன்று குறள் தலைமகன் கூறுவன.

திருக்குறளார் வீ. முனிசாமி உரை: இறுகத் தழுவிய கைகளைத் தளர்த்தியதால் இருவருக்குமிடையே சிறு காற்று நுழைந்தது. அந்தச் சிறிய இடைவெளியினையும் பொறுக்க முடியாமல் இப்போதையினுடைய குளிர்ச்சி பொருந்திய கண்கள் பசப்பு நிறம் அடைந்தன.
