மணக்குடவர் உரை: ஒருவன் அறத்தை வாயாற் சொல்லுதலுஞ் செய்யானாய்ப் பாவஞ் செய்யினும் பிறரைப் புறஞ் சொல்லானென்று உலகத்தாரால் கூறப்படுதல் நன்றாம், இது பாவஞ்செய்யினும் நன்மை பயக்கும் என்றது.

திருக்குறளார் வீ. முனிசாமி உரை: ஒருவன் அறத்தினைச் செய்யாமல் தீயவற்றைச் செய்தாலும் கூடப் 'புறங்கூறாதவன்' என்று மக்களால் சொல்லப்படுதல் நல்லதாகும்.
